If you’re in your twenties or thirties, chances are that your spring and summer are packed with weddings. And quite often, picking out the perfect outfit is harder than expected. Some brides and grooms require a special color theme while others are super chill about the whole thing. And recently, whenever we have a wedding coming up, I always find myself reaching for this outfit. I bought this dress earlier in January, during our trip to Paris, at the Diane von Furstenberg outlet. I love the punch of color from the fun print and the long sleeves make it perfect for any kind of weather.
So when an email from San Francisco-based photographer Emma Wyatt appeared in my inbox to propose that we shoot together in early Spring, I immediately thought about this outfit. I met up with Emma at Floralia, a flower show that I had never been to but came back to a week later with my mom. Emma had found the place on one of her favorite blogs and I have to admit that it blew my mind. The scenery was absolutely magical with thousands and thousands of incredible flowers everywhere we looked. While my shoes weren’t the most practical for shooting there, it definitely helped to capture the essence of this outfit which is all about colors. Emma actually shoots with a film camera which I truly admire. I did a bit of photography as a teen and I just loved to use a vintage camera and would spend hours developing my photos in a dark room. But shooting with film also means that you have to be a bit more patient and a bit more precise, which makes the whole thing a bit more special.
Emma sent me the photos earlier this week and I was so curious to discover them. They’re even better than I expected and captured the day perfectly. While I usually only share outfit photos, I couldn’t resist sharing some of the beautiful surroundings and I totally encourage you to check out her work here.
